Reboot Remastering Project
LTT has been supporting the Reboot Rewind team for two years in their effort to remaster the classic Canadian CGI series Reboot from original D1 tapes. The project involved sourcing and repairing BTS machines, supplying Kioxia drives for storage, and helping fund equipment. Every episode has been successfully captured at original 576P resolution. The team also has D1 tapes for Transformers Beast Wars and other Mainframe shows, with plans to restore those as well. Previously unseen PlayStation 1 game cutscenes have been restored to pristine quality.
- LTT provided Kioxia drives, machine parts, and funding support for two years
- All episodes captured from D1 tapes at 576P with meticulous error checking
- Team also possesses D1 tapes for Beast Wars and other Mainframe productions
- Restored PS1 game cutscenes shown in quality never before seen by public
" Reboot was my childhood. That's what computer animation looked like when I was a kid... Reboot Rewind is an eight-part documentary series about the show that came out in 2024, and now the documentarians are collaborating with Mainframe to remaster the series from its original D1 tapes. "
Used Hardware as GPU Alternative
In response to rising GPU prices, the hosts emphasize that older hardware remains highly viable for gaming. A Ryzen 5 2600 can still achieve playable framerates in modern games like Battlefield 6 at 1080p high settings. They discuss the value of the secondhand market and "scrapyard warrior" approach as practical alternatives to expensive new hardware, with older components like GTX 1080s available for around $100 and holding their value relatively stable.
- Ryzen 5 2600 from 2017 still achieves playable performance in Battlefield 6 at 1080p high
- GTX 1080 cards available for around $100 have maintained that price for years
- Stopgapping with older hardware can be financially advantageous due to slow depreciation
- Real experience: friend's son plays Valorant and Ark Raiders on GTX 1080 with 80+ FPS
" You don't need to buy new expensive hardware. Dude, one of my buddies from high school, his son is currently running... a GTX 1080 and a 7000 series Intel processor, and he plays whatever that Riot Games shooter is, Valorant, and Ark Raiders, and he was saying in Ark Raiders he was getting over 80 FPS. "
" Channeling your inner scrapyard warrior is a great way to ride out times like this. "
